Migrants

Maíra Coelho | Brazil | 2014

Freely inspired by the painting by Candido Portinari (Retirantes - 1944), tells the story of a woman who wanders through barren and unpopulated land with no way to feed her child. On the road are her equals, a procession praying for help, children, lizards and a little music band who walks in retreat. The film mixes Puppet Theater, visual arts, cinema and is set with quirky elements to the harsh reality of the northwest of Brazil.
